Description	:	Crystal A. Maurer, 89, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Friday, August 6, 2021, at the Columbus Community Hospital. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 11, at 10:30 AM at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Cory Burma officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Columbus, at 1:00 PM on Wednesday. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 AM on Wednesday at the church. Crystal Maurer was born on August 29, 1931, in Platte County, Nebraska, to Carl and Elsie (Wennekamp) Wendt. She grew up on a farm near Platte Center, Nebraska, and attended District 72 School and then graduated from Kramer High School in 1949. After high school, she worked at First National Bank. On March 26, 1955, Crystal was united in marriage to Oliver Maurer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus. They lived and worked on the Maurer farm until 1991, when they moved in to Columbus. Crystal was formerly a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and has been a member of Peace Lutheran Church since 1995. She enjoyed needlework, watching television, quilting, going for walks, and playing cards. Crystal greatly loved her family and her greatest joy was her grandchildren. Crystal is survived by: Son: Keith (Karen) Maurer of Columbus, NE Daughter: Beverly (Steven) Mackie of Columbus, NE Son: Todd (Shari) Maurer of Columbus, NE Son: Scott (Amy) Maurer of Tonganoxie, KS Ten Grandchildren One Step-grandchild Three Great grandchildren Brother: Kenneth Wendt of Humphrey, NE Crystal was preceded in death by: Parents: Carl & Elsie Wendt Husband: Oliver Maurer
