Curtis Calvin Strother, 89, of Oakdale, entered eternal rest on Friday, May 21, 2010 at Riverside Hospital in Alexandria. He was born July 31, 1920 in Osborne, La. to the union of Ernest and Pinkie Johnson Strother. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, World War II Navy veteran, retired from Auto Convoy of Dallas after 37 years of service as a teamster transporting new cars throughout the United States, member of the RC Buckner Masonic Lodge #1176 of Dallas since 1955, active in Woodman of the World Camp #416, involved with Oakdale Food Bank for 23 years, contributor and survivor of the American Cancer Society. His father and mother; wife, Gertie Droddy Strother; wife and mother of his children, Dovie Dyer Strother; wife, Helen Strother; sister, Helen Peck precedes him in death. Those left to cherish his memory; two sons, Harold Glyn Strother and wife, Marsha, of Mt. Vernon, Texas and Kendall Calvin Strother and wife, Ethel, of Lewisville, Texas; two daughters, Nelda Jean Lowe and husband, Douglas, of Lewisville, Texas and Sandra Sue Nicholson and husband Alan, of Garland, Texas; brother, George Alton Strother of Chandler, Texas; two sisters, Jimmie Ruth Dunn of Wildville, Texas and Helen Wale of Baton Rouge; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers to serve will be the Pitkin Masonic Lodge #338 and grandchildren Caleb Strother and Marcus
