Description	:	Curtis Ival Blain, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend went home to be with the Lord on August 12, 2007, after a fierce and courageous four month battle with cancer. Read More	Curtis Ival Blain, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend went home to be with the Lord on August 12, 2007, after a fierce and courageous four month battle with cancer. Curt was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa, August 15, 1961, to Gary and Nancy Blain. Growing up in Brooklyn, Iowa, he graduated from BGM High School in 1980. He married Valerie Lavent in 1981 and moved to Arlington, Texas, where they have made their home for 25 years. He served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force while earning his A & P mechanics license from Tarrant County College. For the past 22 years, Curt has been employed by American Airlines at DFW International Airport. Curt loved spending time with his family and friends, coaching his kids' sports, working in the yard, cooking, grilling, and spending time at their lake cabin. He was admired for his sense of humor, had a knack for "fixing" things, and enjoyed a variety of interests, not the least of which was finding a good bargain. Curt will be greatly missed by all. Survivors include his wife, Valerie, and their children Jacob (21) and Jillian (16); his parents, Gary and Nancy Blain of Brooklyn; sisters Angie Gretter (Kenny) of Harper, Iowa, and Jeanna Hills (Matt) of West Branch, Iowa; many nieces and nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Nazarene in Arlington, Texas, Tuesday, August 14th. Visitation in Brooklyn, Iowa, will be Thursday, August 16 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Nevenhoven Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Grace United Methodist Church on Friday, August 17th at 10:30 followed by burial in Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery. Rev. John Dodds will officiate and the musician will be Angie Radcliffe. Luncheon will be served at the church after burial. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or a charity of your choice. (Casket-bearers were Scott Blain, Marty Cummings, Nathan Doty, Tommy Grier, Kenny Gretter, Matt Hills, David Key, and Dana Kilmer.)
