Description	:	Curtis John Markegard was born to John and Jennie (Pierce) Markegard on the family farm north of Bucyrus, ND. He attended school in Wolf Butte and Bucyrus High School, graduating in 1933. He purchased a farm in Wolf Butte, section 26, and lived there with his family the rest of his life, farming and ranching. He married Hazel D Hanson in 1941. Dean and Sandra preceded him in death.∼ Memorial Services for Curtis John Markegard, 90, Adams County North Dakota Farmer and Rancher will be Monday, January 3, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hettinger Lutheran Church. Rev. Brad Edin and Rev. Kathleen Dettmann will officiate and a private family burial will follow the service. Visitations will be from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 2, at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday morning. A Family Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the Funeral Home. Curtis Markegard passed from this life at his home early Wednesday morning, December 29, 2004. Curtis is survived by his sons, Gary (Marla) Markegard, Fortuna, CA; Dan (Tammy) Markegard, Victor, ID; Ken Markegard and Dennis Markegard, both of Hettinger, ND; daughter, Shari (Warren) Wick, of Hettinger, ND; 8 grandchildren and one great grandson; brother, Keith (Artie) Markegard, of Billings, MT; sister, Lois Nester, of Reeder, ND; sisters-in-law, Gladys McLaughlin, of Lemmon, SD and Beth Markegard, of Dickinson, ND and Lois Markegard, of Laurel, MT and many other relatives and friends. Curtis was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel, children, Dean and Sandra, his grandson, Shannon and his brothers, Winston "Bobby", Lyle and Douglas Markegard.
