He graduated from Newton High School in 1988 and worked at Midwest Manufacturing for 21 years. Curt was married to Susan Stier on August 5, 1995 in Grinnell. Curt was a member of the Emerson Hough Chapter of the Izaak Walton League. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, a good laugh, and hanging out with family and friends. Curt had a special bond with his two children. Those left to honor Curt's memory are his wife, Shelly Peterson; daughter, Ryan Peterson; son, Benjamin Peterson; his father, Russell Peterson; brother, Duane (Amy) Peterson; sister, Ranee (Randy Schiller) Dowdy; and three nephews, Alec Dowdy, Michael Peterson, and Matthew Peterson, all of Newton. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Peterson. Memorials in Curtis's name or to the John Stoddard Cancer Center may be left at the funeral home.
