Daughter of Isaac Canterbury and Elizabeth Morgan OBITUARY THE CHARITON LEADER Chariton, Iowa Tuesday, June 29, 1943 CYNTHIA ANN LEEHART Cynthia Ann Canterbury, daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth Morgan Canterbury, was born in Des Moines county, Iowa, on January 19, 1847, and passed away at the Iowa Soldiers' Home hospital in Marshalltown, Iowa, on June 22, 1943, at the age of 96 years, 5 months and 3 days. On September 27, 1866, she was united in marriage to Frederick Leehart in Burlington, Iowa. They moved to Lucas county in 1867, living among the early pioneers of the county. The remainder of her life was spent in Jackson and Ottercreek townships, where she lived until she moved to the Old Soldiers' Home in 1940. Two sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Leehart, Carl R. and William E. She was preceded in death by her husband and son, Carl R. Surviving her are her son, William E., of Lucas; a grandson, Waldron E. Leehart; her nephew, F. C. Conrad, other relatives and friends. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. A. E. Beals, of Russell, were held at the Norwood M. E. church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 and burial was in the Norwood cemetery. Pallbearers were John Primm, Will Goeddes, Roy Allen, G. A. Cunningham, W. C. Evans and W. G. Sharp. Mrs. Leehart had lived to witness almost a centurys development of Iowa. She enjoyed reading and relating interesting incidents of the early days.
