Bray Dead; Celebrated Golden Wedding Recently Mrs. Charles Bray, devoted wife and companion of her husband, Charles Bray, of Syracuse, dies at 10:25p.m. Saturday, March 25th, at their home west of town. She had been ill for the past six weeks. On March 10th, this year, Mr. and Mrs. Bray celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, and although ill at the time, Mrs. Bray arose from her bed to take part in the festivities. She later developed pneumonia, the cause of her death. Cynthia Edna Waterman Bray, the first of six children born to Eli Waterman and wife, and a pioneer of this community, was born at Arcade, N.Y., October 11, 1863. She came with her parents to Prophetstown, Ill. in the year 1866 and then to Otoe County, Nebr., settling near Syracuse in 1875. They lived on a farm six miles north of town, on the land now occupied by Henry Emke. She was married on March 10, 1883, to Charles Bray, of Syracuse, at the home of a friend. A few months later, they moved to Oakdale, Nebr., in Antelope County, where they resided for ten years. living in a dugout. There their two children were born. In 1893 they moved to Syracuse that their children might have the opportunities of schooling. They have resided here from that ime on. Mrs. Bray was 69 years, 5 months, and 14 days of ageat the time of her death, one of Otoe County's pioneer women. She was a member of the Congregational church for many years, but of late had attended the Methodist church in Syracuse. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Geo. Kramer of Syracuse, one son, Walter H., of Bird City, Kans., ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren, besides two brothers. Walter E. Waterman, of Ord, and Ben Waterman of Fremont, Nebr.. There are several neices and nephews Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 28th, from the Tonsing parlors at 1:30pm, and from the Methodist church at 2:00pm. The services were conducted by Rev. C.G. Ellis with interment in Park Hill cemetery.
