Cynthia Mae “Lida” Thomas, 72, of Bussey and formerly of Beacon, died Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at the Monroe County Care Center in Albia. She was born March 10, 1948, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of William and Margaret Hols Rumbaugh. Following school, she stayed home to care for her family and home. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Her family includes her two sons, Roger Thomas and James (Cassie) Thomas all of Beacon;11 grandchildren, Kyle Thomas (Miranda Darrah), Trenton Thomas, Heather Thomas, Katlyn Thomas, Jerad Thomas, Julia Thomas, Michael (Ashlee) Thomas, Mustang Thomas, Shelby Thomas, Sierra Thomas, and Maverick; thirteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Rosie Visser of Bussey, Mary Rumbaugh of Oskaloosa, and Margaret (Duane) Lane of Van Meter; a brother, Jim (Judy) Rumbaugh of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews. Lida was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jerry Dean Thomas; five brothers, Robert, Ray, Bill, Mike, and Melvin Rumbaugh; and a sister, Wilma Bonerd. Due to the restrictions put in place by the Department of Public Health due to the COVID 19 Pandemic. Private family graveside services and burial will be held in the Beacon Cemetery. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Monroe Care Center.
