Description	:	Cyrus Calvin McElvain, son of William T. and Abbie McElvain, was born at Brainard, Neb., April 13, 1885. He grew to manhood in that locality. He was associated with his father in the lumber, grain and milling business in Brainard, Adams and Firth, Neb. November 6, 1907, he was united in marriage to Myrtle Wolford. To this union were born three children, Mrs. Helen Elizabeth Welch of Lincoln, William Kenuff McElvain of Ogden Utah, and Mrs. Margory Wolford Cotner of Waco, Neb. He grew to manhood in that locality. He was associated with his father in the lumber, grain and milling business in Brainard, Adams and Firth, Neb. November 6, 1907, he was united in marriage to Myrtle Wolford. To this union were born three children, Mrs. Helen Elizabeth Welch of Lincoln, William Kenuff McElvain of Ogden Utah, and Mrs. Margory Wolford Cotner of Waco, Neb. Rather early in their married life the McElvanin's ranched in Holt county. About 38 years ago they settled on a farm northeast of Fairmont. He continued to operate that farm until failing health forced him to retire. He was well known in this vicinity, and was highly respected as a citizen. In early life, he united with the Methodist church at Brainard, and later transferred his membership to the Methodist church in Fairmont. He was also a member of the Masonic order in Fairmont. After a rather brief illness, he passed away Saturday, November 5, 1955, aged 70 years, 6 months and 23 days. He passed away on the 48th anniversary of their wedding. He leaves to mourn, the bride of his youth and the companion of his manhood; the three children mentioned above, six grandchildren, one brother, Ralph McElvain of O'Neill, two sisters, Mrs. W.T. Sloan of Potter and Mrs. R.K. Platte of Chambers, besides a number of more distant relatives and a multitude of friends. The memorial services were held Tuesday, November 8, at 2 o'clock in the Methodist church at Fairmont, conducted by the pastor, Dr. Charles B. Hankins.
