The remains were accompanied by his son Alvin cope to the old home neighborhood, while the widow and some others followed by automobile. Another son, Charles, attended the services here at Mapleside on the 19th and the regular funeral services were held at Bowman Chapel, and from his son, Irving Cope's home, 12 according to the custom of the Friends of which Society he was a member. Several Friends from near Earlham, and a load of relatives from Audubon, were present. The parents of the deceased were Isaac and Rachel Cope, members of the Society of Friends. He was the sixth in a family of ten children, all of whom preceded him in death to the great beyond. He was united in marriage with Mary Sullivan, a daughter of Michael Sullivan of Columbiana County, Ohio, in the year 1870. She was born in Ireland in 1839 and came to this country when about seven years old. About two years after their marriage, they moved to Cedar County, Iowa, where they lived until the year 1885 when they settled in Guthrie County. His companion was taken from him by death 9 16. 1907, leaving three sons, Alvion B., Irving B. and Charles E., all of whom, and his present faithful companion are now left now to mourn his death. He was married 12.15.1909, to Margaret Regina Clayton of this community, and a native of Pennsylvania, and lived here until his death. She was the daughter of Joshua and Senath (Heacock) Clayton, and lived a number of years at Norwich, Canada. A good man has been taken from us, one whose usefulness and helpfulness to those about him, has been known the country round. The cause of the widow and orphan was ever to his heart. Abd being blessed with this world's goods, he was able to materially assist such with generosity. Also the Homes for Orphan children, the poor and afflicted, and the education of those in limited circumstances, all received beneficence. Later when the ravages of disease had made them their victim, the mental curtain fell about him, and his real life was beclouded, but it was well for him that he had been provided with loving hands to minister to him through is affliction; and nothing was left undone that could be done for his comfort. Quietly and peaceful, as one falling asleep, he was taken from life, leaving not the feeling as though he had been deserted by the "Great I Am," but only as though He had bid his face for a season.
