The funeral services were held at the home at 2 O'clock p.m. , conducted by Rev. J. H. Ragan of the Christian Church. The funeral was in charge of the Mason Fraternity. Cyrus Vickrey was born in Highland Co. Ohio, Feb. 21, 1827. His father was of Scotch descent and his mother English ancestory. When Cyrus was quite a young his parents moved to Hendricks County, Indiana., where he was raised on a farm, He came to this county in 1851 and at one time owned 680 acres of good land and owened a good farm at the time of his decease and much other property. He married Miss Sarah Landers July 21, in 1851. She was a relative of the well known Landers family of Indiana, and is a sister to Hon. Franklin Landers, who was at one time a candidate for governor of Indiana. They have one daughter Harriet (Vickrey ) Kendall. Mr. Vickrey was a large stock raiser and dealer during the time he was able to look after matters. For the past few years he has not able to do any work, but most of the time able to be around the town and the house. Mr. Vickrey was a nice gentleman and tried to do what was right in all respects. He was well known all over the county, especially by the older residents. He will be sadley missed in the home and the community. The smypathy of all is extened to the bereaved wife and daughter. This obit was obtained from the Keokuk County Historical Society in Sigourney, Keokuk Co. Iowa on July 7, 2010.
