Norman Scruton conducted funeral services at the First Congregational church in Chewelah at 1 o'clock Monday. Graveside services were held here. Mrs. Danekas was born Nov. 5, 1936, to Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Dahl at Chewelah. Her father is publisher of the Independent and a former state senator for 16 years. She graduated from Chewelah high school in 1955 and from Washington State University in 1959. Dahleen Dahl and Gary Neal Danekas were married May 22, 1960, at Westminister Congregational church in Spokane. Mrs. Danekas taught in a high school in California while her husband was in the air force at Beale Air Force base in California. Following Gary's discharge from the air force in August of 1962, the couple lived in Seattle while he secured his master's degree at the University of Washington. She worked at the University of Washington as a student activity advisor. Their home was in Richland where he was employed at the General Electric Hanford project as a reactor engineer. Survivors are her son, David, 14 months; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.J. Dahl of Chewelah and a brother, Gregory B. Dahl, Chewelah. Also surviving are the parents of her late husband, Mr. and Mrs. Don Danekas of Ritzville. Mrs. Danekas was a member of Delta Gamma sorority at WSU and of the Delta Gamma alumni group in the Tri-Cities area. Both she and Gary were active in Trinity United Congregational church at Richland. Pallbearers were Tom Edwards, Richland; Orville Trapp, Pasco; Tom Ambrose, Tacoma; Dennis Goodman, Don Kernutt and James C. Flint, all of Seattle. David, who also suffered injuries in the plane crash, was transferred from Kadlec hospital to Sacred Heart hospital in Spokane for further treatment. Thank you Sue Gardner for this transcription.
