Born at Fenimore, Wisconsin on February 4, 1908, she was one of 13 children of Peter and Clara (Helm) Whitish. She lived all of her life in northeastern Montana. She married Nels Thompson in the early 1920's. They lived and farmed in a number of locations, until they were divorced in the early 1930's. She married Gust Leeseberg January 28, 1936 in Scobey. They lived in Plentywood. Gust died December 4, 1969. She had been a resident at Sheridan Memorial Nursing Home since 1987. A member of the Assembly of God Church, she enjoyed playing piano and organ. She loved jewelry, and was an excellent dancer. She was a member of the Golden Years Club. Survivors include six children: Eugene Thompson of Reserve and Nels Thompson, Jr. of Rolling Fork, Mississippi; Viola Grimes of Portland, Irene Nordstrom, of Vancouver, Gladys Lindell of Prescott Valley, AZ and Dorothy Sundvold of Froid. She is also survived by a number of grandchildren, as well as by a brother, Wesley Whitish of Hardin, and by two sisters Stella Carlson of Glasgow and Thira Marks of Indianapolis. A close friend, Marianne Polk, who recently moved to Helena, helped care for Daisy for some years.
