Elaine, a long time resident and prominent member of the Central La Community, passed away peacefully on Fri, Feb 16 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. Elaine was born in Alexandria, on May 4, 1933. She worked as a Legal Secretary, a Medical Records Librarian, a Hair Salon owner and was a former business owner/operator of various healthcare facilities in Alexandria and Pineville and San Springs, OK. She met her husband, Ed, at a skating rink while he was stationed at Fort Polk. A year or two later she eloped to Sand Springs, OK (Ed's Hometown) by being smuggled onto a plane filled with soldiers to marry Ed. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Edward Ed Earl Rose; parents, James E and Annie E Kerry and sister, Helen Hogason. Elaine leaves t cherish fond memories her daughter, Sharon Burns (Robert); son Kenneth Rose (Lenore): grandchildren Christopher Rose (Elaina), Karen Schexnayder (Ross), Katherine Vu (Hanh) and Laura Burns; 6 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. Elaine's true passion was Missions. She worked along with Ed on numerous Church Mission Work Teams and had been involved in mission work throughout the U.S., Haiti, Africa, South America, Philippines, Honduras and Guatemala. She was also active with the Hephzibah Children's Home in Macon, GA and ministry to the American Indians, th Navajo Indians in AZ and the Lakota Indians in S. Dakota. Elaine's life has touched many throughout the entire world. Through Ed and Elaine's legacy, wells are being dug, schools, hospitals and homes are being built, hospital and building equipment and supplies are being provided and lives are being saved through them. Her favorite project was preparing Children's Gift Packs for Hope for Children, which was a project that she led. Not only did she receive gift packs from churches and organizations throughout the U.S. but she also bought items in bulk and assembled the gift packs herself and with the help of volunteers. She quietly went abut trying to make the world a better place for others. She is highly esteemed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. One of her greatest joys was her family; especially her grand and great grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family has designated the Food Bank of Central Louisiana, 3223 Baldwin Ave. , Alexandria, La 71301 or the World Hope International, Attn: Gift Processing PO Box 74394, Atlanta GA 30374 for memorial contributions.
