Description	:	Dale A. Herter, 82, of Gibbon, died Friday, November 3, 2017 at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. A Celebration of Life will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Gibbon, Nebraska. Herter, 82, of Gibbon, died Friday, November 3, 2017 at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Dale was born on January 25th, 1935, to Charles Edward and Enid Rose (Whiting) Herter on the Floyd Whiting farm southwest of Shelton. After graduation from Gibbon High School in May of 1953, he worked on the farm with his Dad, and later erecting steal buildings for Behlen Mfg. Co. On July 15th, 1956, Dale was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Elizabeth Packer in Wood River. Their first child, Kris, was born June 25th, 1957, and not long after they moved to California to explore new opportunities. There, on November 5th, 1962, Ron was added to their family. Having saved enough to buy a farm back home, they decided to return to their roots, and Steve arrived on August 25th, 1964. Their family complete, they bought a farm south of Gibbon, and later purchased the lumberyard in Gibbon which they owned and operated for over 35 years. The most important things in Dale’s life were his family and his love of spreading the gospel, and the last half of his life was focused on ministry. He was a long time member and officer of Full Gospel Businessmen in Kearney, and instrumental in founding new chapters in the surrounding area. His most recent focus in ministry was the God Mobile, a mobile way of presenting the gospel at local fairs and events, through which thousands came to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. He was also a member of the Open Door Fellowship in Gibbon, where he was loved by all. Dale cared deeply for his family, prayed for them daily, and was so proud of all of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He really is the reason that all those in his family know Christ, and will be able to welcome us in to heaven someday, one by one. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Herter of Gibbon; children and spouses, Ron and Mona Lee Herter of Gibbon and Kris and Wayne Keller of Gibbon; grandchildren and spouses, Jason and Christina Keller of Vici, Oklahoma, Angie and Cesar Monterroso of Gibbon, Kassy and Chris Marsh of Hartington, Kaleb and Allie Keller of Grand Island, Shawn and Erin Herter of Kenesaw, Janice Herter and Van Cornett of Burlington, Kentucky, Trevor and Katie Herter of Eagle, Tyler and Megan Herter of Lincoln, Chelsea Herter and Taylor Muckey of Omaha, and; sister, Sharlene and husband John of Galesburg, Illinois; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Carolyn Olson of Holdrege, Joyce Packer of Wood River and Jerome and Nancy Packer of Wood River; nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Charles (Chick) and Enid Herter; father and mother-in-law, Otho (Stub) and Rose Packer; brother-in-law, Rollin Packer; and son, Steven Herter.
