Description	:	"Dale C. Christensen, 79, of Fremont died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont. He was born Sept. 26, 1923, in Foster to Charles and Lillian (Dykeman) Christensen. He came to Fremont with his family in 1940 and graduated from Fremont High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army beginning in 1943. He served in the Seventh Tank Battalion in Germany and France. Read More	"Dale C. Christensen, 79, of Fremont died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont. He was born Sept. 26, 1923, in Foster to Charles and Lillian (Dykeman) Christensen. He came to Fremont with his family in 1940 and graduated from Fremont High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army beginning in 1943. He served in the Seventh Tank Battalion in Germany and France. He was discharged in 1945, and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received. On his return home, he attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He started his own Christensen Body Shop in Fremont in 1951. Later, he became the manager of the body shop for McFadden Ford in Omaha, where he worked until his retirement. He married Betty Weidner on Jan. 16, 1943, at the Methodist Church in Fremont. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Fremont Boat Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 854, Fremont Eagles Club Aerie 200, the Valley View Golf League and he had just recently received his 50-year membership pin from the Fremont Masonic Lodge No. 15, A.F. & A.M. Survivors include: his wife, Betty; a daughter, Deborah Christensen of Fremont; two sons, Bruce Christensen of Lincoln and Jeffrey (and wife, Nancy) Christensen of Norfolk; seven grandchildren, Alicia Christensen of Omaha, Audrey (Mrs. Josh) Petrick of Omaha, Andrea Christensen of Norfolk, Allen Christensen of Norfolk, Matt (and wife, Heather) Christensen of Kansas City, Kan., Katie (Mrs. Brian) McGonigal of Newport, Wash., and Clay Christensen of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a great-granddaughter, Alexandra McGonigal of Newport. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Fremont with the Rev. Jocelyn Tupper officiating. The United States flag will be presented by the Fremont Honor Guard of the American Legion Post 20 and V.F.W. Post 854. There will be no public viewing, however, the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont. A memorial has been established to First United Methodist Church."
