Description	:	Dale D. Christiansen was born April 8,1931, the son of Henry and Adeline Wiese Christiansen. He died Monday, March 12, 2001 at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of sixty-nine. Dale was born on a farm near Vail, Iowa and was baptized in Christ at Stockholm Lutheran Church near Kiron. He was later confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig in 1946. Dale was born on a farm near Vail, Iowa and was baptized in Christ at Stockholm Lutheran Church near Kiron. He was later confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig in 1946. He received his education in rural schools near his home in Crawford County and the Schleswig High School. On February 18, 1951, Dale was united in marriage to Mildred (Millie) Hollister. In November 1951, Dale entered the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in November of 1955. He returned to Crawford County, where the couple farmed in the Deloit area from 1956 until 1961. He then worked for various meat companies from 1962 through 1994. Dale retired in 1996 and went to work at Walmart in Council Bluffs and in Des Moines after moving there in 1998. Dale was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Glenwood, Iowa. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed attending his children and later his grandchildren's school activities. Dale also enjoyed remodeling his home. Dale was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Shirley. Survivors include his wife, Millie of Des Moines; two sons, Dana Christiansen and his wife, Barb of Urbandale; Daryn Christiansen and his wife, Kelly of Seattle, Washington; four grandsons, Zachary, Drew, Jacob and Gabriel; two brothers, Bonard Christiansen and his wife, Beverly of Schleswig; Melroy Christiansen and his wife, Betty of Boyer; two sisters, Phyllis Brotherson of Lake View; Beverly Hammer of Boone; many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2001 at the First United Methodist Church in Denison, Iowa. Rev. Chrisa Ferguson officiated the service and grave side rites held at the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Nancy Miles provided the organ accompaniment for soloist, Larry Boeck singing "What a Friend We Have in Jesus", "Amazing Grace" and "On Eagle's Wings". Honorary pallbearers were Mark Christiansen, Howard Brotherson and Robert Naylor. Those serving as pallbearers were: Steve Christiansen, Tammy Gustafson, Keith Brotherson, Leon Brotherson, LaDonna Miller and Eric Hammer. Military honors were American Legion Post No. 8, Denison, Iowa. The family invited everyone in attendance at the service to join them in fellowship and lunch at the church, served by the Methodist Women. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
