Description	:	Funeral services for Dale D. Schmeling, age 82, of South Shore, SD will be Wednesday, January 23, 2008 in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, South Shore. Rev. Jason Schmidt will officiate. Dale passed away on Friday, January 18, 2008 at the hospital in Watertown, SD. Burial will be in the St. Luke's Cemetery, rural South Shore, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale's granddaughters: Katie Rudnick, Janelle Schmeling and Kristen Salverson and members of the Germantown Township Board. Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown. Dale was born on September 29, 1925 in rural South Shore, SD to Harry and Edith (Zielsky) Schmeling. He attended country school through the eighth grade and then farmed with his dad in Germantown Township. On December 19, 1945, Dale married Isabelle Borns at South Shore, SD. The couple moved onto their own farm and continued to farm near South Shore for many years. Later in life, Dale and Isabelle worked for the Big Sioux Nursery for seven years. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council. Dale also served on the township board for over 30 years and on the St. Luke's Cemetery Association. He enjoyed gardening, working with trees and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Dale is survived by his wife of 62 years, Isabelle, of South Shore, SD; two sons: Randy and his wife, Rita Schmeling and Joel Schmeling all of South Shore, SD; two daughters: Janet Pray of Moorhead, MN and Judy and her husband, Paul Salverson, of Watertown, SD; one sister, Phyllis J. Schmeling, of Watertown, SD and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
