Dale Delane Beacock, 81, of Vancouver, WA, a longtime musician and co-founder of Beacock Music, tragically passed away on Aug. 4, 2011 from a cycling accident near Garibaldi, OR. He was born May 1, 1930 in Ypsilanti, ND to Keith and Leone Beacock and grew up in a musical family: his mother played guitar and violin and his three siblings were musicians as well. He played clarinet and saxophone throughout his school years at Shumway Jr. High School, Fort Vancouver High School, Clark College and the University of Portland. While attending the University of Portland he joined the U.S. Navy and attended the Navy School of Music. Later, earning a Master of Music degree at the University of Portland. Returning to Clark County he took his first public school teaching job and considered himself the luckiest guy in the world. Teaching and playing music lasted his lifetime and he never looked back. Dale was a close family man, involved in his children's activities and accomplishments and attending his grandchildren's school and sporting events. He always kept in touch with family around the country while continuing his busy schedule. Dale was a loving family man and friend and his children and grandchildren meant everything to him. Dale was the orchestra conductor for many years for the Miss Washington Pageant. These were live shows - no canned music. He also conducted countless shows and musicals. Dale enjoyed all types of music, walking, biking, camping, collecting antiques, especially tin toys and postcards and had earned his pilots license. Dale loved his dog Casey and traveling in his motor home to meet his brothers. Each fall they camped in the Northern California mountains to ride motor bikes. Beacock Music was his pride and joy because he could continue teaching the New Horizons Concert and Stage Bands, who rehearsed and played every week. His music never stopped. Dale is survived by his sons, Steven Beacock (Renee) of Portland, OR and Russell Beacock (Heidi) of Vancouver, WA; daughters, Pamela Cleavenger (Rocky) of La Pine, OR and Gayle Beacock of Vancouver, WA; brother, Laverne Beacock (Marilyn) of San Jose, CA; sisters-in-law, Donna Beacock of Hayward, CA, Adell Beacock of San Jose, CA, Jeannie Daggy of Vancouver, WA, Alice Hendrickson (Chris) of Vancouver, WA and Mary Storm of Vancouver, WA; brother-in-law, Walt Johnston of Nashville, TN; mother-in-law, Alice Farmen of Vancouver, WA; father-in-law, Nick Nickell of Vancouver, WA; grandchildren, Angel Ware, Rocky Cleavenger, Nick Beacock, Jane Beacock and Sarah Beacock; former wife, Susan Beacock of Vancouver, WA; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Leone Beacock; brother, Nordean Beacock; sister, Arliss Johnston; and grandson, Solomon Beacock. Everyone is invited to come to Dale's memorial service to be held on Fri., Aug. 12, 2011, 2:00 p.m. at Clark College's Gaiser Hall, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver. In honor of Dale, Beacock Music will be closed Fri., Aug. 12th so that our family and staff may attend the services and honor his life.
