Dale passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Newark Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born June 9, 1933 in Licking County to the late Herbert and Daisy (Cotterman) Channell. Dale was a veteran of the Korean War, serving his country on an aircraft-carrier and supply-ship for four years. He went on to retire after 30 years with the U.S. Postal Service as a rural letter carrier. He was an avid bird watcher, was a member of NARFE, VFW and the American Legion. Dale and Patty spent many years at their winter home in Sebring, Florida. He is survived by two children, Gayle Channell (Corey) and Ronald Channell (Sallie); the mother of his children, Nancy Channell; two grandchildren, Alex and Megan; a great-grandson, Makhi; his companion of 27 years, Patty Holmes; a sister, Betty Carson; and his big beautiful black and white cat, “Mix” whom Dale rescued from the Humane Society. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Herb and Kenney. Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North fifth Street, Newark.
