He was born on April 19, 1920 at Bonners Ferry, ID the son of Clinton and Elsie (Buckley) Gant. He was born on April 19, 1920 at Bonners Ferry, ID the son of Clinton and Elsie (Buckley) Gant. In 1923, he moved with his family, by way of two Model-T Fords to Southwest Missouri and settled at Walnut Grove, where he began his schooling. They later moved to Beebe in 1927, remaining there briefly before moving to Howard Flat, located north of Chelan. Due to his mother's illness, the family moved to Wagnersburg and later to Waterville in 1934. He finished his schooling in Waterville and in 1942, he entered the U.S. Army. He served in Africa, India, Burma and China, receiving his honorable discharge in December of 1945. He returned briefly to Waterville before moving to Klamath Falls, OR, where he worked for the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company. In the late 60s, he moved to Wenatchee and later went to work at Tree Top, where he remained until retiring. On June 30, 1973, he was married to Betty Black at North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. They had since made their home together in East Wenatchee. Dale was Commodore of the Wenatchee Boat Club in 1987. He was a longtime member of Wenatchee Aerie #204 F.O.E. and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Dale loved dancing, woodworking and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Betty Gant of East Wenatchee; three sons, Ronald Gant of East Hampton, MA, Murray Black of Parksville, B.C., Canada and Douglas Black of East Wenatchee; two daughters, Jane Marks of Winsor, CT and Heather Buttazzoni of Kamloops B.C., Canada; one sister, Ruth Stapp of Greenfield, MO; three granddaughters and three grandsons. He was preceded in death by five brothers, George, Deed, Vaydo, Cecil and George Gant and three sisters, his twin, Dora Grina, Marjorie Vandegrift and Grace Coffman. Commemoration Services will be held on Friday morning, Dec. 21, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Telford's Chapel of the Valley with the Reverend Jim Deal officiating. The services will conclude in the chapel with private interment in the Waterville Cemetery.
