He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cedar Bluffs. He was a charter member of the V.F.W. at Hayes, KS and was a member of the V.F.W. at Wahoo, NE. He is survived by grandson, David Svara of Fremont; son-in-law, Nick Svara of Cedar Bluffs; brother, Fred Slaughter of Ellis, KS; sister, Deloris Gruen of Lenexa, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughters, Donna Slaughter and Dianne Svara; brother, Raymond Slaughter; and sisters, Dorothy McIntosh, Beulah McIntosh, Betty Mae Binder and Bernice Patterson. Memorial Mass will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 7, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cedar Bluffs, NE. Monsignor Daniel Seiker will officiate. Military honors conducted by American Legion Rejda Post #273 of Brainard, NE will be at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Brainard, at 1:30 PM on Saturday. Moser Memorial Chapel, 200 W.
