Description	:	Dale L. Hawkins, 76, a forty-five year resident and businessman of the Lake Chelan area, died Thursday, June 2, 2005, at Lake Chelan Community Hospital following a brief illness. He was born December 30, 1928, at De Grey, South Dakota, the son of Oral and Eva (Burns) Hawkins. The family moved to Wenatchee in 1933, and he attended schools there. Hawkins, 76, a forty-five year resident and businessman of the Lake Chelan area, died Thursday, June 2, 2005, at Lake Chelan Community Hospital following a brief illness. He was born December 30, 1928, at De Grey, South Dakota, the son of Oral and Eva (Burns) Hawkins. The family moved to Wenatchee in 1933, and he attended schools there. He graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1947. Following his graduation, he was employed in the Wenatchee area until 1950. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the US Army until his discharge in 1952. Returning to the Wenatchee area, he married Gerri Hansen Lobe on January 15, 1956. In that same year, he and his brother, Harold, purchased the Log Cabin Tavern in Entiat. Later, they purchased the Sandwich Shop in Chelan, and in 1957, they operated it as Dale's Tavern until 1970. In 1960, Dale purchased the Town Tavern with Bill Willmorth, and a short time later, brother Harold Hawkins replaced Bill Willmorth as the partner in the operation. In the early 1960's, they sold the Log Cabin Tavern in Entiat and later, the Town Tavern in Chelan. He then entered into the orchard business in which he was active until 1995. Dale was a member of the Chelan Eagles Aerie 2218, the Wenatchee Elks Club, the American Legion, and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). Survivors include his wife, Gerri, of the home; two children, Corkie Wood and her husband, Darryl, of Port Angeles, and Tony and his wife, Liz, of Chelan; two sisters, Evelyn Gilbert and Neta Noyd, both of Wenatchee; a sister-in law, Pat Swartz and her husband Herb, of Ferndale; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is loved and missed dearly by his family. A Tribute Service will take place Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at North Shore Bible Church with Donn Plew officiating. Private Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Lake Chelan Community Hospital, EMS, or the Heart Fund. Services are under direction of Precht Rose Chapel in Chelan.
