Description	:	Dale Lee Schlender, 70, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at Morys Haven Nursing Home in Columbus. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 29 at 10:30 AM, at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Cory Burma officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Hartman Post 84 Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Saturday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on... Dale Lee Schlender was born November 30, 1948, in Columbus to LeRoy and Clara (Borer) Schlender. He graduated from Columbus High School. Dale was united in marriage to Marcia Hake on September 10, 1969, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, and the couple was blessed with two sons. On March 25, 1969, Dale entered the United States Army. He was a Huey crew chief and mechanic at Hunter Army Air Field in Savannah, Georgia. He was honorably discharged on March 24, 1971. Dale worked for Evan’s Plugge, Falcon Auto, Greystone, and retired from Blazer Manufacturing. After retirement, Dale enjoyed working part time at Wunderlich’s Catering and Wal-Mart. On August 29, 1992, Dale was united in marriage to Vel (Renner) Steiner at Peace Lutheran Church. With this marriage, two step-sons joined the family. Dale enjoyed bowling, fishing, golf, and model cars, and spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. Dale was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Dale is survived by: Wife – Vel Schlender of Columbus, NE Son – Paul (Angie) Schlender of Lincoln, NE Granddaughter – Haylee Schlender Mother of Todd’s Children – Mandy Schlender of Norfolk, NE Grandchildren – Payton & Maisy Schlender Step-Son – Steve (Erica) Steiner of Roscoe, IL Grandchildren – Eric and Kya Steiner Step-Son – Tim (Becky) Steiner of Lincoln, NE Grandchildren – Alex and Emily Steiner Half Sister – Michelle Schlender of Lincoln, NE Step-Sister- Marlene (Delmar) Spitz of Columbus, NE Step-Sister – Bonnie Martens of Seward, NE Dale was preceded in death by: Parents – LeRoy and Clara Schlender Son – Todd Schlender
