He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1953 and attended Iowa State University before serving in the U.S. Air Force and the Iowa Air National Guard. Hartman, 80, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Arbor Springs in West Des Moines. Dale was born April 2, 1935, in Ottumwa, to Frank and Lulu Hartman. Dale is survived by his wife of 59 years, Charlene; son, Bryan (Joanne) of Mediapolis; daughters, Dala (Mike) Scoblic of Waukee and Tracy (Bruce) Imber of El Cajon, CA; sister, Maycel Rowland of Ottumwa; brother, Dean (Lois) of Ottumwa; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jack of Chillicothe, IA. Memorial services will be held 6 p.m. Monday, January 25 at McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines with visitation from 4 p.m. until service time. Burial of his cremated remains will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa at a later date.
