Description	:	Dale Max Ireland, 92, of Oskaloosa, and formerly of Eldon passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the Oskaloosa Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Kremer Funeral Chapel in Batavia with Pastor Dave Albert officiating. Burial will follow in the Batavia Cemetery. Dale Max Ireland, son of Frank and Gertie “McCreery” Ireland, was born June 24, 1923 in Packwood, IA. His early years were spent in the Packwood area where he graduated from the Packwood High School. Dale worked as a farmhand for a short time before enlisting in the Army on January 7, 1943, where he served until his Honorable Discharge in 1945. Upon returning home, Dale met and fell in love with his best friend, Marjorie Meixner. The two were married at the Christian Church in Batavia, IA on September 29, 1947. This began a journey together that lasted almost 70 years. Dale and Marjorie lived in Packwood for a short time before moving to Agency, IA. Dale began working full-time at Horner Box in Ottumwa, while also tending to the farm with the help of Marjorie. When Horner Box closed, Dale began working at Louden Machinery Company in Fairfield, IA, where he was a valued employee for over 20 years until his retirement in June of 1988. Dale and Marjorie moved several times throughout their life together, but always made wherever they were home. During this time they became the loving parents to Dennis and Susan. The family eventually moved to Eldon, where they remained for 24 years until moving closer to family in Oskaloosa. Dale loved animals of all kinds, and had many of them at one time or another on their farm. Dale was an avid baseball fan, and always enjoyed watching the game or a good western on TV. He was a hard worker, but above all, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Charles Ireland, Junior “Frank” Ireland, and Paul Ireland, as well as one sister, Betty Haney. Left to honor his memory is his loving wife, Marjorie; one son, one daughter, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one sister, Marilyn Hacker, as well as many extended family and friends
