Kingman, Lakeside, of the death of their son, Dale, 23, who was killed in action in an "airplane crash at sea in the performance of his duty and in the service of his country." Dale Kingman enlisted in January 1942, and then attended one quarter at the University of Washington before being called to service in April 1942. He reported to Sand Point for his primary training and in July to Jacksonville, Fla., for advanced training. He received his commission as ensign and wings at Jacksonville in January 1943, and was assigned to a scout-bomber patrol, carrier based. After additional training, young Kingman returned home for a short leave in April of 1943, and then reported for active duty at San Diego and was immediately assigned to the Sough Pacific theater of war. Dale Newton Kingman was born at Chelan, July 19, 1920, where he grew to manhood. He was graduated from Chelan High School in 1938, receiving the coveted citizenship cup award in his senior year. He was and outstanding high school athlete in football, basketball and Junior Legion baseball. He attended two years at Washington State College and then worked a year in defense work in Tacoma before enlisting. He was a member of the Boy Scouts, troop 12, Chelan, the Methodist church, and the Rau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Surviving are his parents Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Kingman, Lakeside; two brothers, Elwyn Kingman, flight instructor at the Wenatchee Air Service, and Captain Howard L. Kingman, on active duty in the Alaska theater; a sister, Kathleen Kingman, Lakeside; and a grandfather, H. R. Kingman, Chelan.
