The funeral service will be on November 15 at 1 PM, with a memorial service to follow at Union Cemetery in Guthrie Center. Dallas was born April 14, 1945, to Donald & Berneil (Mikkelsen) Steensen. He attended Guthrie Center High School during which time he served as president of the FFA. Dallas graduated from high school in 1964. Dallas graduated with a degree in electronics from United Electronics in Des Moines, Iowa, in1966. Dallas married Marcia Sue McKee on June 18, 1966, to which they were blessed with 2 children, Ronald Lee and Karen Elaine. Dallas entered the Navy in 1966 where he repaired communication equipment as a radio mechanic. He was honorably discharged after serving for 2 years so he could return home to help on the family farm in time of need. Dallas took pride in serving his country and never lost that patriotism. Dallas wed Patricia Ann Berkenbosch on May 7, 1976. Together they had 2 children, Donald Patrick and Katherine Annette. Over the years, Dallas acquired countless skills and worked many different occupations. He returned to United Electronics as an instructor. Dallas worked as an appliance technician for General Electric. He had his own TV and appliance repair business. Dallas was an electrician, a self-taught auto mechanic, and also worked in construction. Dallas greatly enjoyed making and listening to music. Dallas could play the accordion and organ by ear. His favorite genres were classic country and Christian. Dallas liked to dance when given the opportunity. In retirement, Dallas appreciated the annual trips to Branson. Cars were a big part of Dallas's life. His first car was a Chevy, but it was a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T with a 440 Magnum that converted him to a Mopar fanatic. Dallas owned a host of Dodges, Chryslers, and Plymouths, all of which seemed to be a part of the family. Dallas never met a stranger; he could talk with anyone. Dallas was compassionate towards people and would look for any opportunity to help them. Dallas delighted in his family. He loved his kids and adored his grandchildren. Dallas's character was defined by his steadfast Christian faith. Dallas was a humble, honest, selfless, and kind man who was not shy about his love of Jesus Christ. Dallas knew the joy that comes from trusting a just and holy God, and his genuine desire was that others know Him too. One of Dallas's favorite Bible verses was Isaiah 40:31 which reads, "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Dallas is preceded in death by his father Donald, mother Berneil, and sister Cheryl. Dallas is survived by his wife Pat of Guthrie Center, children Ron (Nova) Steensen of Guthrie Center, Karen (Larry) Fiebelkorn of Des Moines, Donald (Valerie) Steensen of Saint Joseph, Missouri, Kathy (CJ) Leaf of Des Moines, grandchildren Hal (Tasha) Gibson, Ashley DeReich, Braxton Steensen, Kari Fiebelkorn, Levi Steensen, Olivia Steensen, great-grandchildren Ryleigh DeReich, Brooklyn DeReich, and Kenzie Gibson.
