Description	:	Dalmer (Del) George Mayer, 74, of Winner, SD, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the Winner Regional Healthcare Center in Winner, SD. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Winner. Burial will be in the Winner Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. prior to services at the church. Read More	Dalmer (Del) George Mayer, 74, of Winner, SD, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the Winner Regional Healthcare Center in Winner, SD. Dalmer (Del) George Mayer was born August 13, 1936 to Fredrich and Paulina (Lippert) Mayer in McIntosh County, at Lehr, North Dakota. Del had two brothers, Jacob and LeRoy and four sisters Laverne, Erika, Berneice and Darlene. Del grew up in Lehr and attended elementary and high school in Lehr graduating from Loewenthal High School in 1955. In September 1955 he enlisted in the Armed Services, Army branch and went to Fort Carson, Colorado for basic training and also to Ft. Dix, New Jersey for heavy equipment training. He was honorably discharged in September, 1957. While in the army he boxed for the 26th Regiment, 1st Division Infantry and upon return boxed for the Golden Gloves at Wapheton. He was state champion in 1960. Del worked for Haggert Construction in Fargo for several years. In 1959 he married Maisie Schneider in Argusville, North Dakota. Together they had three sons; Timothy, Toran and Todd. They were divorced in 1969. Del moved to Seattle, Washington and worked for Bar S Meat Department. In 1970 he moved to Kalispal, Montana and in 1972 to California. In 1976 he moved to Ft. Collins, Colorado and worked for Redman Homes. He lived in Greely, Colorado and worked for Monfort Packing and also worked for Walmart in Laramie, Wyoming. Del married Verna (Kahler) Deutsch on October 19, 1991 in Laramie, Wyoming. After retirement he moved to Winner, South Dakota. He is survived by his wife Verna, his mother-in-law Marie Kahler, and sons; Timothy, Toran and Todd and children; Valerie (John) Benko, Vicki Orear (Chad Moser), Alan Deutsch (Susan George), six grandchildren and six great grandchildren and, his sister Darlene Erbele and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brothers Jacob and LeRoy and his sisters Laverne Kusler, Erika Brosy and Berneice Mayer.
