He was born August 27, 1968, in Oskaloosa, Iowa the son of Kenneth and Darlene Rogers DeGroot. He graduated from Oskaloosa Senior High with the class of 1987. He was born August 27, 1968, in Oskaloosa, Iowa the son of Kenneth and Darlene Rogers DeGroot. He graduated from Oskaloosa Senior High with the class of 1987. His family includes his father Kenneth DeGroot of Rose Hill; three brothers, Kevin DeGroot of Long Beach, California, Bryan(Betsy)DeGroot of Oskaloosa and Todd DeGroot of Rose Hill; a sister, Darla DeGroot(Roy Sams)of Des Moines; nieces and nephews, Carrie, Leisha, Ashleigh, Brandon, Ciara, Justin, Shauntel, Ariana, Sarah and Heidi; many great nieces and nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, and a sister, Marcia Lynn DeGroot; paternal grandparents, George and Bertha DeGroot; and his maternal grandparents, Lloyd and Charlotte Rogers. Funeral services for Damon DeGroot will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 1:30 pm in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Visitation begins Monday after 11 pm in the Bates Funeral Chapel with the family present at the funeral chapel from 5-7 pm to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the St Jude Children's Hospital.
