Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 5 – 7 P.M. on Thursday evening. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:30 A.M. on Friday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids. Born on January 12, 1967 in Carroll, IA, he was the son of Wade and Arlene (Johnston) George. Dan was a lifelong resident of Coon Rapids where he graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1986. Following high school, Dan earned a degree in hotel and restaurant management from Des Moines Area Community College. He worked for many years in his family’s restaurant, Arlene’s Café. Dan also worked at the North Side and at the Coon Bowl for 19 years. Dan loved to cook and was known for many of his specialties including meatloaf and chili. Dan was chef at the Coon Bowl in 2012 when they were named “The Best Burger in Iowa” by the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association. Dan also enjoyed playing cards, fishing, going to the casino, hanging out with his friends, and spending time with family. Dan loved to play Bingo and he called Bingo on Tuesdays at the Community Center. Dan was a member of the Son’s of the American Legion, the Coon Rapids United Methodist Church, and he was an avid Wednesday night bowler. Dan is survived by two sisters: Joyce (Steven) and Mary (Robert); two brothers: Fred (Caroline) and William; three nieces: Jennifer (Michael), Alisha (Nathan) and Bobbi Jo (Adam); four nephews: Shawn, Steven (Jaci), Kristopher and Nick (Sammi); his aunts and uncles: Bethel and Duane, Darlene, Marcella, and Bryan and Jo Ann; and many great-nieces, great- nephews, and cousins. Dan was preceded in death by his parents Wade and Arlene George.
