Description	:	Dan Chambers, son of Harold and Velma (Crouse) Chambers, was born August 29, 1951. From an early age, he loved music. His Dad built up the neck on an old Stella guitar so he could use a bar to play. From that point, Dan had his own band in junior high—the Fabulous Outcasts. He spent many creative years with his music in several bands and played a variety of instruments including pedal steel guitar, dobro, acoustic guitar, mandolin, and saxophone. From an early age, he loved music. His Dad built up the neck on an old Stella guitar so he could use a bar to play. From that point, Dan had his own band in junior high—the Fabulous Outcasts. He spent many creative years with his music in several bands and played a variety of instruments including pedal steel guitar, dobro, acoustic guitar, mandolin, and saxophone. Dan had the honor of being inducted into the South Dakota and Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame through his association with the group, Festival. Paul Crouse, Dan’s uncle, hired him to work as a bill collector for Crouse Cartage Company. From that beginning, he worked in the terminal in Omaha and later became terminal manager at the Shenandoah facility. It was at this point that Dan moved to Sidney. Because of his love of music, Dan and Dennis Bateman held two Loess Hills Music Festivals in Sidney with the headliners being Norman and Nancy Blake, Steve Kaufman, and Bob and Kristi Black. In addition, there was a host of local talent assisting with the proceedings. The weather played havoc with the events, but the music was wonderful! When Dan moved to Sidney, he became a deer hunter and fisherman. He was an avid golfer and was on the Friday night league for several years. He also joined the Sidney Masonic Lodge and was a Past Master of the Lodge. Dan’s interests included the Sidney Teammates program, where he held the office of President; helping with the Sidney Iowa Rodeo; and reading. His music tastes were quite eclectic ranging from classical music to the Beatles, Tom Waits, and Leonard Cohen. Preceding Dan in death were Harold and Velma Chambers; Beverly Giboo; and Keith Chambers. He is survived by: Anne Chambers and loving dog Lily; David Giboo and family; Larry Giboo and family; Pam Oltman; Keith Chambers II; and a host of other relatives and friends.
