Mr. Brigham was born Oct. 19, 1922, in Dryad, Wash. His family moved to Battle Ground when he was an infant. He was a resident of Clark County most of his life. He worked briefly at the Kaiser Vancouver Shipyards and then began a machinist apprenticeship at Spokane, Portland & Seattle Railway. After serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II, he returned to the railroad where he worked for 32 years. His career included 12 years as roundhouse foreman in Vancouver. Mr. Brigham retired from Burlington Northern Railroad in 1982. After retirement, Mr. Brigham moved to Ocean Park. He applied his machinist skills to the wood lathe and assisted his wife with ceramics. He enjoyed salmon fishing. Mr. Brigham was a member of Saint Mary's Church of Seaview, Knights of Columbus, Ocean Park Eagles, Surfside Homeowners Association, the American Legion of Vancouver and the International Association of Machinists, railroad division. He served 12 years as a member of the Clark County Sheriff's Reserve. Mr. Brigham is survived by his wife of 53 years, Thelma, of Ocean Park; one son, Gary of Brush Prairie; three daughters, Catherine Presler and Joan Goodrich, both of Vancouver, and Janice Sellers of Toledo; a sister, Josephine Watson of Salem; and one brother, Collin Brigham of Ocean Park; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church in Seaview. The casket will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea in Long Beach. Recitation of the rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's. A family graveside service is planned at St. James Acres Cemetery in Vancouver. Memorials contributions may be to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or St. Mary's Church Memorial Fund, Seaview, WA 98644.
