Description	:	Dan Tietz, 93, of Culbertson, passed away on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Roosevelt Memorial Nursing Home in Culbertson. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. MST, Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Culbertson. Pastor Al Beyer will officiate and interment will be in the family lot at Friedens Gemeinde Cemetery, northwest of Culbertson. Pastor Al Beyer will officiate and interment will be in the family lot at Friedens Gemeinde Cemetery, northwest of Culbertson. Daniel Tietz, 93, was born on June 5, 1919, to Samuel and Rosina (Kraft) Tietz. He was raised on the family farm northwest of Culbertson and lived a simple life filled with family, friends and faith. Dan was always there to help a friend or neighbor in need. He met the love of his life, Gladys Oelkers, while attending a dance at the Culbertson Armory. They were married Dec. 18, 1948, and went on to have a wonderful marriage spanning 63 years, until Gladys' death on July 22, 2012. Dan and Gladys farmed and ranched the land he loved, until they retired to Culbertson in 1986. Dan was very active at Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed teaching Sunday school and Bible studies, singing in the Men's Choir, and also served on the Church Council. Dan was active as a Culbertson School Board Member, Culbertson Museum Officer, NFO Officer, Grazing Association Member and FFA supporter. He also volunteered at the Food Bank and Voting Board. Following his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities always brought Dan great joy. His large garden and sharing of produce was high on his "to do" list, along with "tinkering" in his shop. He also enjoyed playing pinochle with friends and relatives that stopped by to visit. Dan passed away surrounded by his family on Nov. 23, 2012, at Roosevelt Medical Center in Culbertson. Dan is survived by two children, Tom (Shirley) Tietz and Laura (Larry) Bergum; grandchildren, Angela (Ryan) Lindley, Chris (Vecta) Tietz, Julie (Brad) Collins, Eric (Cassandra) Bergum, Deanna (Matt) Monson, Jessica Tietz; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Rosina; his wife, Gladys; his brothers, Samuel, Jacob and Daniel; and sisters, Selma, Caroline, Emalie and Christine. Friends may call at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Culbertson on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service time. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Williston is assisting the family with the arrangements
