Description	:	Dana Piel, age 58, of Hubbard, IA, died on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA. Dana Lee Piel was born on May 23rd, 1955 in Eldora, Iowa. He was the youngest and most strong-willed of three children of Alfred J. Piel and Irene (Hubbard) Piel. He was baptized and confirmed in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Read More	Dana Piel, age 58, of Hubbard, IA, died on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA. Dana Lee Piel was born on May 23rd, 1955 in Eldora, Iowa. He was the youngest and most strong-willed of three children of Alfred J. Piel and Irene (Hubbard) Piel. He was baptized and confirmed in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He attended school in Hubbard and later in life at Marshalltown Community College. Dana began working for his dad's company Piel Manufacturing in the early ‘70s. However, it wasn't a long-lived career because ‘early riser' wasn't in his list of skill sets. So in 1974, he started working for the Rock Island Railroad. That had him traveling often for work, so in 1975, he left life on the rails for a job at Schuld's Manufacturing. During that time, he met his wife, Lori (Kadolph) Piel. They were married, May 6th, 1978. Schuld's Manufacturing closed down in 1982 prompting him to seek employment with D&B Agro-Systems of Hubbard. In 1995, Dana was very excited and proud to have earned his electrician's license. He purchased, rebuilt and restored a boom truck and used it to start Piel Enterprises in 1997 where he specialized in tree trimming and electrical work. In 1998, he left D&B to pursue his business full-time, which is where he worked until he was no longer able this past year. Death came to Dana early Saturday morning, March 8th, 2014, at the Israel Hospice House in Ames, Iowa, after a short, accelerated battle with cancer. Those remaining to cherish his memory include his son, Shawn Piel of Ames, IA; daughter, Diane Scott of Story City, IA; four grandchildren, Julian Piel, Haylie Scott, Jemma Scott and Mason Scott; sister, Cristine Birks of Hubbard, IA; brother, Alan Piel of Hubbard, IA; along with a nephew and niece and many other relatives and friends. Dana was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Irene.
