As his health was already in a serious state he having suffered for a number of years with diabetes, his condition soon became critical. He passed away at his home April 1, 1939 at the age of 53 years, two months and nine days. Daniel B. Parker was born, January 22, 1886, in Nemaha county, Nebraska. He came to Custer county with his parents in 1912 and has made this his home since then, always having lived within a few miles of Anselmo. He was united in marriage to Edna Hill on October 14, 1915. To this union, four sons were born; Norman D., Eldon F., Millard D., and Glenn R. Mr. Parker was engaged in farming for a number of years until poor health caused him to give up that line of work. When he moved to Anselmo where he has since resided. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife and four sons; one brother, L.H. Parker of Broken Bow; one sister, Mrs. Cora Beach of Auburn, Nebraska, and a score of relatives and friends. The esteem in which Mr. Parker was held was evidenced by the large number who attended the funeral, which was held at the home on Monday afternoon. The services was conducted by Rev. I.M. Phillips of Merna, assisted by Rev. W.C. Lessley. Hymns were sung by Mesdames W.H. Kellenbarg, E.V. Stinespring and Messers Roy Wilson and Richard Milligan, with Mrs. M.M. Kepler at the instrument. The pallbears were, Will Christy, Floyd Riggs, L.H. Prell, Kenneth Einspohr, John Williams and Charles Condron. Interment was made in Cliff Union cemetery. Those from out-of-town attending the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. Elbert M. Neeley and son, Robert of Des Moines, Iowa; George Carpenter of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mrs. Lura Carpenter of Shennadoah, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. L.H. Parker of Broken Bow.
