Description	:	For over 100 years, Dortch Price lived on the same piece of land; Born at home in the Pricetown Community, he became a mighty fine man. During World War II, he served in the Pacific Theatre as part of the Army Air Corps. After his tour of duty. he returned back home to Pricetown immediately after the war. Having learned the trade of being an... Read More	For over 100 years, Dortch Price lived on the same piece of land; Born at home in the Pricetown Community, he became a mighty fine man. During World War II, he served in the Pacific Theatre as part of the Army Air Corps. After his tour of duty. he returned back home to Pricetown immediately after the war. He once again farmed the land as he did before he went away. And he also taught Ag at Moss Hill and Seven Springs schools - that was way back in his younger day. Having learned the trade of being an electrician, he founded Dortch Price Electric, which he ran for years on end. And throughout his life he was one man on whom all could faithfully depend. He retired from his business in the year 1982. So during his retirement years he worked part-time with Wayne County Inspections Department, just to have a little something to do. Always involved in his community in service to those around him. He was a founding member of the Pricetown Volunteer Department and though he had long been retired from the force, he attended their weekly meetings until his eyesight grew quite dim, He was the department's chaplain until 2004. And another thing, he was a lifelong member of Zion Church, and in his better years, he was there every time they opened the door. He led the building committee for the new Zion. And it is remembered in 1949, he and Mrs. Iva Lois rode his Harley Davidson to Sanford to purchase bricks for the church with only a handshake and a promise to pay - he agreed to pay for them if the church couldn't - he was just such a man, one mighty fine. From 1950-1972, he served as superintendent of the church and grounds. And whenever a problem arose, tending to the situation he could always be found Not only did he love his family and community, his church with the sparkly white steeple. He just loved people! Many conversations he would hold with anyone who had s listening ear, and he was know to converse with strangers as though he'd known them many a year. As age crept up on him and his hearing and eyesight failed, his stories continued as exact dates and events he could vividly recall. He was a talking history book of things he did and saw. A simply amazing man, many did marvel at his mind. And his passing brings the ending to an era of men like him whom again we'll never find. He was a loving husband for 74 years to his beloved bride. And in his son and his daughter, he had the greatest pride. His grandsons were his pride and joy. And then great grandkids came along - five girls and two boys. To further the ancestral line, great-great grandchildren he got to see and know. He was G-G to them and was thrilled by them, especially Hurricane Ben, who's constantly on the go. We shall all miss Mr. Dortch Price - he's been here longer than anyone else around; We know by the life he lived and the faith he had that a wonderful place in heaven he has now found.
