He was born in Putnam County, West Virginia March 06, 1864. He grew to manhood in this section and married Edith "Eddie" Josephine Stalnaker of Lewis County, West Virginia. Carl Enoch Hill met Daniel and his wife for the first time in 1938 at their farm near Arbuckle, West Virginia and wrote how impressed he was by Daniel, describing him as a grand old man. He said that he was deeply impressed by his inherent kindness and deep sincerity. Daniel was caring for his invalid wife and was reported to have a deep and genuine concern for her comfort. His neighbors also held him in the highest regard. It was Daniel that initially sparked Carl Hill's interest in compiling his genealogy record and provided Carl with some of the data. Daniel was very proud of his family line in the fact that of the several hundred in this line, none had any run in with the law. In the 1900 Mason County, West Virginia census in Union District, Daniel F. is listed as a 36 year old farmer. His wife Eddie J. is also 36. In the home are Obie E. age 12 and Lloyd age 10. In the 1910 Mason County, West Virginia census in Union District on page 205b, Daniel F. is listed as a 46 year old farmer. His wife is Eddie J. age 45. In the home are Lyda J. age 8 and an adopted daughter and Minnie E. Hanson age 28 and a servant. Listed as a 55 year old farmer in the 1920 Mason County census in Union District on Roll 1962, Book 2 and page 189b. His wife is Eddie J. age 55. Listed as a 66 year old farmer in the 1930 Mason County census in Union District on Roll 2541, Book 2 and page 64b on Calispell Road. His wife is Eddie J. age 65. There is a boarder in the home, a Carl Richardson, age 21. Daniel and his wife are buried in Grass Lick Cemetery, Jackson County, West Virginia.
