Read More	Obituary: Died Wednesday, July 17, 1905 at his home in Des Moines; Mr. Daniel G. Marmon was 53 years, 11 months and 11 days. Daniel G. Marmon was born Aug. 6, 1851, near Warsaw, Indiana and died at his home July 17, after an illness of 48 hours. Daniel with his parents moved to Calhoun Co., Iowa upon a farm which he grew to manhood. His occupation was that of a carpenter, this trade he followed for 30 years. He leaves his wife, a little baby, a brother, J. L. Marmon of this place and other relatives to mourn his death. Thursday, July 20, 1905 his remains were brought from Des Moines to Altoona where brief services were held in the M. E. Church conducted by Rev. A. B. Adams. Interment taking place in the Altoona Cemetery. --------------------------------------- The 1860 census for Kendrick, Greene County, Iowa shows: Daniel G. - 8 years old; his parents were Stephen and Mary Marmon with step-sister, Sarah A. Stephenson, 19 years old and brother Lemon, 11 years old. Marriage records show Daniel Marmon and Delia Hill were married April 17, 1870 in Greene County, Iowa. The 1870 census for Cedar, Greene County, Iowa show: Daniel, 20 and Delia, 18 living with Daniel's parents, Steven and Mary Marmon; both Daniel and Steven were listed as farmers. The 1880 census show: Daniel and Delia living at Glidden, Carroll County, Iowa with daughters, Kitty, 5 years old and Myrl, 2 years old. Daniel was listed as a stock dealer. The 1885 census shows the family living at Glidden; youngest daughter was named Dallie. The 1900 census shows Daniel living at Lake, Calhoun County, Iowa; divorced and worked as a carpenter. Daniel G. Marmon married Nora Bell Daisy on Oct. 25, 1901 at Rockwell City, Calhoun County, Iowa. They were the parents of two children; Raymond and Pearl. The 1905 Iowa State census shows Daniel and Nora Marmon, living at Lake City, Iowa. The baby mentioned in the obituary was my grandmother, Pearl Marmon Anderson. (R. O. Higgins)
