He moved to Waukee in 1943, where he worked for the Farmers Cooperative until his retirement in 1970. He married Illa Esther Dachenbach on Jan. 4, 1929. The couple had two daughters, Flora and Phyllis, and a son, Daniel III. Other survivors include nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
