My 3rd Great Grandfather - Veteran of the War of 1812."Daniel Comstock moved to Scioto Co. OH in 1818. In 1834 he moved to Indiana, and two years later traveled by ox team to Iowa. He was a member of the first County Court of Muscatine Co. In 1839 he went to Cedar Co., where he was one of the first County Commissioners. Afterwards he went to Dubuque to select the land on which to locate the County seat. He helped to lay out the town of Tipton. The "History of Missouri", 1889, states that he was a soldier in the War of 1812. (A Daniel Comstock, private, from Davis NY., 1st Reg.
