Kluthe, 70, of Dodge died Monday, April 28, 2003, on his farm northwest of Dodge. He was born Jan. 19, 1933, in Dodge. He attended Olean Sacred Heart Catholic School in rural Dodge. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from March 2, 1953, until March 1, 1955. He married Mary Ann Niewohner on April 12, 1955, in Snyder. After their marriage, they farmed northwest of Dodge to the present time. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Olean in rural Dodge. He was very active in the Knights of Columbus where he served two years as recording secretary, two years as Deputy Grand Knight, two years as Grand Knight and four years as District Deputy. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and was a charter member, a board member and field man in an organization of area farmers and businessmen formed to start the Dodge Cheese Plant. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 122 of Dodge and was past commander. Survivors include: his wife; two sons, Daniel (and wife, Josie) Kluthe of Dodge and Donald Kluthe of Omaha; two daughters, Mary Jo (Mrs. Dale) Brichacek of Rogers and Geri Ann (Mrs. Scott) Deines of Fremont; four sisters, Wilma Ebbers of Hector, Minn., Lorraine (Mrs. Glenn) Reeson of West Point, Betty Dau of Midland, Texas, and Darlene (Mrs. Richard) Uher of Dodge; two sisters-in-law, Imelda Kluthe of New Brighton, Minn., and Valarie Kluthe of Clarkson; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two brothers-in-law. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Olean Sacred Heart Catholic Church in rural Dodge with the Rev. Dennis DuGuzman officiating. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at the church. A wake service will start at 7:30 p.m. today at the church, followed by an 8 p.m. rosary by the Catholic Order of Foresters and Knights of Columbus. A prayer service will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Humlicek Funeral Home in Dodge. Burial will be in Olean Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in rural Dodge with military rites by the Dodge American Legion Post 122.
