Strecker, 80, of Parsons, died at 7:23 p.m. Friday, October 12, 1990, in the emergency room of the Labette County Medical Center. Mr. Strecker was born on Sept. 7, 1910, at Eve, Mo., to Harvey and Catherine Tilsley Strecker. He moved with his parents to Arcadia when he was 3. He grew up and attended school in Arcadia, graduating from Arcadia High School in 1930. He attended junior college at Fort Scott for one year. He lived in California for several years before World War II, then served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945, part of that time in Europe. After the war, he moved to Parsons. For several years, he was employed at the KG&E plant at Service. He then was employed for a number of years in the maintenance department of the Parsons School District. He retired in 1975. He was a member and past master of the Parsons Lodge No. 117, AF&AM; a member of the Couer de Lion Commandery No. 17, Knights Templar; Parsons Chapter No. 39, Royal Arch Masons, and Independence Council No. 15, R & SM. He was a member and past patron of Progress Chapter No. 49, Order of Eastern Star. He was also a member of the Parsons Senior Citizens Club, the local American Association of Retired Persons chapter, and the Brown Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign War. He was a member of the 635th Tank Destroyer Division. He married Louise Vaughn on Oct. 21, 1945, at Wichita. Survivors include his wife of the home; three brothers, Raymond Strecker of Pittsburg, William Strecker of Pasadena, calif., and Leo Strecker of San Marcos, Calif.; one sister, Geraldyne Brann of Raytown, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Burris-Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Cherokee Cemetery. Masonic Rites will be given by the Parsons Masonic Lodge and a flag presentation ceremony by the Parsons VFW. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where friends may call after noon Sunday. death date in obit doesn't agree with date on stone
