He was the son of John Robinson and Elizabeth Ludlow Robinson. He married Lucy Ann Elizabeth Smith (dau of Henry Smith and Hannah Winslow Miller Smith) 20 September 1824 in Fredericton. Educated at the Saint John Public School, he was admitted to the bar as an attorney in 1821 and as a barrister in 1823. In September 1824 he married Lucy Ann Elizabeth Smith, daughter of Henry Smith of Fredericton, and they had 5 children: Susannah (died in infancy1828), John (1829-1842), Henry (1832-1838), Ludlow (1836-1842) and Morris (1838-1842). "During the 1820s, Robinson moved to Fredericton where he acted as registrar of the Court of Chancery for several years. He was elected to the House of Assembly as a member for York County on 18 June 1837 at a by-election caused by the death of Jedediah Slason. He sat until the legislature was dissolved in 1837. Robinson did not re-offer, but chose to retire to private life. A member of the Church of England, he died on 30 April 1861."
