Description	:	Daniel "Mitchell" McNair, 73, died Jan. 2, 2006, at his home. He was born March 29, 1932, in Richmond County, a son of the late Clarence Garrett McNair and Mary Anna McNair Covington. Mitchell was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served honorably during the Korean war. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Rockingham. Even though an automobile accident left him paralyzed for 48 years, he never lost his love for the outdoors and his animals. He was a constant inspiration to all who knew him. He was born March 29, 1932, in Richmond County, a son of the late Clarence Garrett McNair and Mary Anna McNair Covington. Mitchell was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served honorably during the Korean war. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Rockingham. Even though an automobile accident left him paralyzed for 48 years, he never lost his love for the outdoors and his animals. He was a constant inspiration to all who knew him. Mitchell was preceded in death by his stepfather, E.K. Covington, and a sister, Margaret Ann Porter. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at Watson-King Funeral Home Chapel, Rockingham with the Rev. Dwight Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and at other times at their home.
