Description	:	Mr. Negley was born in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, in 1805. In 1830 he was married to Miss Elizabeth Haller. In 1854 he moved to Iowa and settled on a farm near Victor where he lived until the time of his death. Being one of the early settlers in the community he had an extensive acquaintance in all directions and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. Read More	Mr. Negley was born in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, in 1805. In 1830 he was married to Miss Elizabeth Haller. In 1854 he moved to Iowa and settled on a farm near Victor where he lived until the time of his death. Being one of the early settlers in the community he had an extensive acquaintance in all directions and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. For sometime past his health has not been good and he was at times a great sufferer, but most of the time he was able to be around and attend to his chores. Last Monday evening, the day before this death, he was about as well as usual and did his accustomed work. In the evening he was suddenly taken ill. Aid was at once summoned and all that human hands could do for his relief was done. In the morning it was thought he was some better and his children had all gone home for a time, but shortly before 10 o'clock he was suddenly taken worse and in a very few minutes death relieved him of his sufferings. He leaves an aged wife and five children to mourn their loss. The living children are Mrs. H. Parks, Mrs. W. K. Nace, Mrs. G. W. Peters, Mr. Wm. Negley and Mr. John Negley. They were all present at the funeral. They are all residents of Victor and vicinity except Mrs. Peters, whose home is in Des Moines. Father Negley was a member of the M. E. church for several years past, having previously been a member of the Baptist church, but after that society became disorganized he found a home with the Methodists. The funeral services were held at the family residence Wednesday, at 3 p.m. conducted by Rev. D. A. Watters, assisted by Revs. B. F. Shane and A. W. Striker, after which the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery two miles southwest of Victor. The Attendance was very large and gave evidence that the deceased was well known and highly respected in the community.
