Hopkins, Civil War veteran, died at the home of his son, Edward F. Hopkins of Selleck Place, Stratford yesterday afternoon. Mr. Hopkins was 88 years of age and served in the 16th Connecticut Volunteers during the Civil War. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias. When the news of Hopkins death was brought to his 80 year old wife, living with another son, Byron D. Hopkins in West Haven, she was stricken by apoplexy and at a late hour last night had lost consciousness. Attending physicians declared she would not live the night through. Bothe have a host of friends in Stratford and Bridgeport having resided in this vicinity during the last 25 years. He is survived by a daughter, Agnes, of Ansonia, three sons, Edward F. of Stratford, Byron D. of West Haven and Charles H. of California. The funeral services will be held from the home of his son Edward in Stratford, Tomorrow night at eight o'clock. The body will be taken to Portland, Conn., for burial Wednesday morning.
