| Description | : | Same stone as Ann E. Bigelow Daniel was a Harvard-trained lawyer who crossed the Oregon Trail in 1851 and arrived in Olympia in November. Shortly after his arrival, he built a small cabin that also served as his law office, then took up one of the first homestead claims on what later became Olympia's east side. In 1854 he married Ann Elizabeth White, one of the first schoolteachers in Washington Territory. Together they were active in the community and politics.
