Description	:	Dan Cutler was the youngest child of Merle and Lela Cutler of Sloan, Iowa. Born in 1946, he grew up on the farms of western Iowa, joining the Four H and Boy Scout organizations. At Westwood High School in Sloan, Iowa, he was the lead in the class play, "The Blind Date." He attended both Iowa State University and the University of Iowa, and then went on to law school at the University of Iowa. Read More	Dan Cutler was the youngest child of Merle and Lela Cutler of Sloan, Iowa. Born in 1946, he grew up on the farms of western Iowa, joining the Four H and Boy Scout organizations. He attended both Iowa State University and the University of Iowa, and then went on to law school at the University of Iowa. He married his childhood sweetheart, Karen Lindbergh, also from Sloan, Iowa. Together they had two children, Jill Shorey Cutler and Nathaniel Tisdale Cutler. After practicing law for a short while in Des Moines, he and Karen moved to Sioux City where he was an assistant district attorney during the famous trial of two defendants accused in the deaths of two FBI agents on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, which was held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. AFter serving as assistant U.S. attorney, he practiced law with the firm of Klass, Whitcher, and Mishne. In his spare time he researched family history, interviewing elderly relatives, copying photos to share, locating remote books on genealogy. Dan was intelligent, funny, and full of life. He was the center of his family, and his death was a devastating blow for all. He suffered from bi-polar disease, and when, during the mid-1980's a farm crisis hit the mid-western states, he lost a farm he had purchased, the stress contributed to his death. Those who loved him honor his memory and seek to support others who are devastated by mental illness.
