KREHBIEL _____________________ Ritzville Journal-Times Thursday, August 20, 1936 Mayor Of Lind Answers Call LIND - Daniel Krehbiel, 69, mayor of Lind, died at his home here at 3 p.m. Tuesday of heart trouble. Mr. Kriehbiel had been ill only a short time. He was a pioneer of this region, having resided here 45 years. He was born in (Egglestetten) Bavaria, Germany, and received his schooling and college work there. He came to the United States in 1881, living two years in Illinois and eight years in Kansas before coming to Adams county, Wash., in 1891. On arriving here he homesteaded on a place four miles northeast of Lind, where he farmed. He married May Schragg at Menno in 1901. He moved into town in 1907 and was connected with the Lind Hardware company two years. He then entered the real estate and insurance business in which he had since been engaged. Since 1926 he was a member of the firm of Krehbiel & Brittenham. Since 1929 Mr. Krehbiel had served as mayor and previously had served two terms, or more than any other mayor. He was a member of the Mennonite church and for 20 years was a deacon in the church at Menno, near here. Surviving Mr. Krehbiel are three sons, Walter, Danny and Ulrich, here; five daughters, Mrs. Katherine Franz, Santa Monica, Cal., and Ruth, Gertrude, Della and Marie, here; two brothers, John and Chris, Lind, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Vogt, Philadelphia, Pa., and Mrs. Susan Neare, Lind. Mrs. Krehbiel died in 1928. Funeral services were held this afternoon from the church at Menno, the Rev. M. J. Galle, Odessa, officiating.
